Congratulations to Sterling Municipal Light Department

Ferriter Scobbo & Rodophele, PC congratulates its client, the Sterling Municipal Light Department (SMLD), on executing a contract with NEC Energy Systems of Westborough for the purchase of a utility scale 2 MW/3 MWH battery energy storage system (BESS).

Ferriter Scobbo served as counsel to SMLD in successfully negotiating the terms of the contract.

The battery storage project will be located in the Town of Sterling, MA.

The project was funded in part by a $1.46 million grant from the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources’ Community Clean Energy Resiliency Grant Initiative.

The SMLD not only will administer the grant, but also install the battery system. Once completed, the unique system will provide resiliency to the Sterling police station and dispatch center as well providing significant cost saving benefits to the SMLD rate payers.

Ferriter Scobbo is very excited to be a part of SMLD’s efforts to be in the forefront of battery storage technology in Massachusetts.  Congratulations to SMLD.

The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the calendar year.
