Recently, Ferriter Scobbo assisted a municipal light department in negotiating an eleven 1 year power purchase agreement for 100% of the output of a hydro generating facility in New Hampshire. The new agreement lets the client continue to expand and diversify its energy portfolio while providing competitive rates to their customers.

A program designed to ensure ISO New England has enough generation to meet peak demand during the winter months allows ISO participants to bid on providing, storing it, and then using it to generate electricity during peak times throughout the winter. Our client was a successful bidder. Ferriter Scobbo helped our client hedge the price of the oil it purchased so as to protect its downside risk through a derivative hedging agreement.

A local municipality considering bringing natural gas to the town adopted the vote we drafted at a special town meeting. The affirmative vote was well in excess of the required two-thirds. This is the first of two required votes. The municipal gas service would be operated under the town Municipal Light Board, changing the structure to a municipal gas and light department.
This vote must be followed up with a second special town meeting, two-thirds approval, for the study anytime between February 2014 and January 2015.

Ferriter Scobbo worked with its client on drafting a 25 year power purchase agreement for power generated by First Wind. The fixed price agreement is for 75% of the power to be generated from a 51 Megawatt wind farm in Maine. The arrangement will bring clean, renewable energy to 17 different Massachusetts municipal utilities.
