    Late in 2010, Ferriter Scobbo shareholder, Robert Granger was diagnosed with lymphoma. He spent the better half of 2011 battling the disease.  The news rocked our small office as the holidays approached that year, and everyone wanted to do something to show their support.   As a group, we created “Granger’s Changers.”

    Seemingly healthy for the last three years, Rob has recently received the news that the lymphoma has returned. Rob has another fight ahead of him, one which we are confident Rob will win.

    Attorney Rob Granger’s  fourth installment in a series of articles, called “In the Boardroom”, was published November 7th.  The series, highlighting best practices for various boardroom matters, is published in The Standard New England’s Insurance Weekly. This particular article, called “In the Boardroom:A Due Dilligence Checlist” discusses some of the items you may want to learn about before buying an agency.

He spent the better half of 2011 battling the disease and, happily, has come through the fight healthy.  The news rocked our small office as the holidays approached that year, and everyone wanted to do something to show their support.   The “Granger’s Changers” jar quickly became a staple on the receptionist’s desk. After every morning coffee, trip to Cosi or that late afternoon snack stop, employees dumped their spare change into the jar.

    Nicholas J. Scobbo, Jr. President of Ferriter Scobbo & Rodophele, PC, and Michael D. Vhay, a firm shareholder, have both been named to the 2014 Massachusetts Super Lawyers list. No more than 5% of Massachusetts lawyers are selected for the Super Lawyers lists.

    In July of 2014 Governor Deval Patrick signed into law legislation that would allow consumers in Massachusetts to order wine directly from wineries around the country and allow those wineries ( if licensed in Massachusetts)  to ship.  Ferriter Scobbo & Rodophele PC through its lead lobbyist Robert Rodophele has represented Wine Institute in its legislative effort to allow direct shipment for a number of years.

    Michael D. Vhay has been named to the Boston Bar Association’s Ethics Committee. This committee provides formal opinions on professional conduct questions, formulates the Boston Bar Association’s position on changes to the rules of professional conduct, and provides an annual ethics training program for newly admitted lawyers.  It’s a three-year term.

    Ferriter Scobbo congratulates Danforth Green on the issuance of the first building permit for the construction of its residential development in Framingham.  Ferriter Scobbo successfully defended the variances necessary for the construction of this project against challenges in the Land Court, Appeals Court, and Supreme Judicial Court in record time.

    The Boston Business Journal recently reported that a large nightclub operator is looking to open a new combination restaurant and entertainment venue, Latitude 360, at the Lafayette City Center in Boston’s Downtown Crossing.  The area is undergoing a lot of construction with Millennium Tower, a 60-story condominium project at the former Filene’s site, as well as the renovation of the adjacent Burnham building.
