    Ferriter Scobbo & Rodophele, PC congratulates its client, the Sterling Municipal Light Department (SMLD), on executing a contract with NEC Energy Systems of Westborough for the purchase of a utility scale 2 MW/3 MWH battery energy storage system (BESS).

    Ferriter Scobbo served as counsel to SMLD in successfully negotiating the terms of the contract.

    The battery storage project will be located in the Town of Sterling, MA.

    Ferriter Scobbo is very pleased to announce that Barnett (“Barney”) Ovrut is returning to our practice. 

    Barney previously worked with Ferriter Scobbo from 2002 to 2007.

    During that time, he represented insurance agencies on a multitude of issues, including mergers, sales, employment issues, licensing and compliance matters. He also represented insurance companies in acquisitions, regulatory and corporate matters.

    Hockey rinks and New England schools go together like peanut butter and jelly. When a small group of neighbors of the Roxbury Latin School started to question whether a proposed indoor athletic facility and ice rink were truly part of an educational use under the Boston Zoning Code, Roxbury Latin asked Ferriter Scobbo to join its project team to ensure that the facility would be ready for the 2016-2017 hockey season.

    In June 2015, Ferriter Scobbo attorneys Michael Vhay and Valerie Moore filed a complaint with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development against the City of Newton, MA on behalf of two developers of affordable housing.   The complaint recounts the City’s violations of the federal Civil Rights Act and the federal Fair Housing Act, including the City’s false certifications that it is affirmatively furthering fair housing.
