Ferriter Scobbo & Rodophele, PC Represents Cooperative in Purchase of Berkshire Wind Project

Boston, MA  June 13, 2008 –  Ferriter Scobbo & Rodophele, PC represented The Berkshire Wind Power Cooperative Corporation (“Cooperative”) in its successful acquisition of the assets of the Berkshire Wind Project.  This will allow the Cooperative to construct and operate a proposed 15-megawatt wind power project on Brodie Mountain in Western Massachusetts. 

Ferriter Scobbo & Rodophele, PC also represented the Cooperative in its short-term, $8 million loan borrowing from PeoplesBank of Holyoke, Massachusetts to finance the purchase of Project assets.

Shareholders Nicholas J. Scobbo, Jr. and Ann Ryan-Small, together with associates Sherry Vaughn and Craig Ramsdell, performed the due diligence, established the Cooperative, completed all aspects of the Bank closing as well as the assets purchase and easement assignments.

Our attorneys also utilized their experience in municipal law, contract law, environmental law and construction permitting. 

The Cooperative is a municipal lighting plan cooperative comprised of 14 Massachusetts municipal utilities and the Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (“MMWEC”).
