Law Clerk
For Fall 2019, Ferriter Scobbo & Rodophele, PC seeks to hire a second- or third-year law student able to work a minimum of ten and a maximum of fifteen hours per week through the school year. Our intention is to utilize the part time employment as a long-term interview for a Summer position and/or permanent employment upon graduation.
Our small size affords a law clerk the opportunity to work with and learn from our most senior attorneys in a broad range of legal disciplines. An ambitious, driven law student will be exposed to and learn the skills required to work in the legal, administrative and business activities of a busy law practice. The Law Clerk will undertake responsibility for a variety of tasks including the following:
- Performing legal and/or factual research as assigned. This will include the use of the firm’s library, Social Law Library, Westlaw, Massachusetts administrative agencies procedural and case law precedents, and the Internet;
- Analyzing and organizing corporate records, financing and sale of businesses closing binders, case files and records and other documents generated in a client’s legal matter;
- Assisting with litigation support including drafting and responding to pleadings and working on discovery and depositions;
- Drafting of correspondence and communicating and meeting with clients, opposing counsel, courts, administrative agencies and municipal departments.
Skills & Experience:
- Enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study;
- Able to work independently and have a flexible attitude with respect to work assignments;
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research process, and legal and factual research resources;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Able to edit and proof legal documents;
- Possess strong computer skills working with the Microsoft suite of products.
